A one-man firm, and that's the point.
ROK Electrics is a small family-run business working out of 2–4 Petworth Road in Haslemere. David Moore started it in 2007, incorporated it as ROK Electrics Ltd in 2012, and is still the person who comes to your house. In our own words, we specialise in high-quality domestic electrical design and installation in the Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire area.
The word “design” is doing real work in that sentence. The jobs we're asked for tend to be the ones where the decisions matter as much as the wiring: which EV charger and where it goes so the cable reaches; how to light an indoor school without dazzling a horse; where to put the concealed strip in an oak frame so the light comes off the ceiling rather than out of it; how much of a garden to leave deliberately dark.
The work splits five ways. EV chargers — installed since 2016, and repaired with charger-specific diagnostic tools most electricians don't own. Extensions and rewires, normally running alongside major building work, with smart home equipment, Cat5 and Cat6 cabling and WiFi done at first fix. Equestrian electrics — indoor schools, whole yards, horse-wash water heaters and remote-access CCTV. Fault finding and repairs. And garden lighting design, which we've been sub-contracted to a specialist supplier for since 2008.
Being this size has one obvious cost, and we'd rather be straight about it: we can't always get to the phone, and we don't run an emergency call-out service. Email lands better than a voicemail does. What we do instead is prioritise the people we already look after — which, after eighteen years, is most of the diary.
On credentials, plainly: we're registered with the NICEIC as a domestic installer and approved contractor, which means annual inspection of our work. We don't print a scheme number here because you can't verify one from a web page — ask, and we'll send our current certification and insurance over before you book.
